Former South Africa cricketer Dale Steyn slammed a social media user for accusing him of spreading negativity towards the Indian cricket team amid the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup. The cricketer-turned-commentator asked the X user to prove his point by sharing at least one example. The remarks came after India beat the USA by 29 runs in their opening game of the ICC event. Here’s how the conversation went:

A user wrote on X:

“Dale Steyn’s tweets seem full of negative vibes toward the Indian team, come across as subtle jibes.”

Steyn replied:

“Really? Show me one example.”

The stunt is nothing new; several users on X use hate speech to get a reaction from popular cricketers.

Interestingly, Steyn backed India to become the first team to score 300 in the T20 World Cup before the game. Later, the 42-year-old acknowledged he had got the prediction wrong, as India managed 161/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

The Men in Blue were reduced to 46/4 after the power play before looking in a spot of bother at 77/6. Captain Suryakumar Yadav led by example, scoring an unbeaten 84 off 49 balls, including four sixes and 10 boundaries, as India posted a fighting total. Interestingly, the two teams jointly failed to reach 300, managing 297 runs combined, as the USA managed 132/8.

“He’s gana win an IPL before he finishes school” – Dale Steyn in awe of RR batting sensation ahead of IPL 2026

Dale Steyn was in awe of Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi following his power-packed century as India beat England in the 2026 U19 World Cup final. The legendary bowler believes that the 14-year-old will win an IPL trophy before finishing school. The remarks came after Sooryavanshi slammed 175 runs off just 80 balls at a strike rate of 218.75, including 15 sixes and as many boundaries.

Steyn wrote on X:

“Everyone’s tweeting bout him, I may as well too… This kid, wonder boy, he’s gana (gonna) win an IPL before he finishes school.”

Steyn has scalped 699 wickets in 265 matches across formats. He is currently working as a commentator in the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup.
