Elon Musk reacts after Iceland’s Alexandre Rocha loses custody of 10-year-old over alleged gender transition opposition

Following the recent custody ruling in Iceland involving Alexandre Rocha, Elon Musk reacted publicly on February 25, 2026, on X. He reposted related commentary from the X account Libs of TikTok and wrote:

,

“The woke mind virus even affects Iceland.”

His statement referred to a district court’s decision that reassigned primary custody of Rocha’s 10-year-old child to the child’s mother after a prolonged dispute over gender transition and related medical decisions.

According to court findings, joint custody was deemed unworkable due to sustained conflict between the parents over the child’s gender identity and care. The ruling granted the mother sole legal custody while allowing Rocha visitation rights.

The court determined that the decision was based on the child’s welfare and the inability of both parents to reach an agreement on major issues. Rocha has launched a GoFundMe campaign seeking financial assistance to pursue an appeal.

In his fundraising statement, Rocha said he has been involved in a four-year legal battle over custody and medical decisions concerning his son, who he states was recently diagnosed with autism. He also wrote that when the child was seven, the mother began a gender-related transition process, and at age 10, the court ruled in favor of a legal name change and the use of puberty blockers.

Rocha wrote:

“I strongly believe these measures are not in my son’s best interest and am pursuing a legal appeal to challenge the decision.”

He further added that legal fees, court filing costs, and expert reports have exhausted his personal resources.

Elon Musk’s past remarks on gender identity come into focus amid the Rocha case

Elon Musk’s remarks on the Iceland ruling reflect views he has previously expressed regarding gender transition, including comments about his daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, whom he shares with his former wife, Justine Musk.

Elon Musk and Justine had six children together, twins and later triplets, though their first child died in infancy. Beyond his children with Justine Musk, Elon Musk has fathered additional children with other partners, bringing his publicly reported total to fourteen.

Vivian, @elonmusk’s daughter, has a few things to say about what her dad spewed on Twitter on @jordanbpeterson’s interview.

Wilson came out as transgender in 2020 and filed a legal petition in 2022 to change her name and gender marker, stating she did not wish to be related to her biological father “in any way, shape or form.”

In a March 20, 2025, interview with Teen Vogue, she described her father’s reaction when she began medical transition:

“No, he was not as supportive as my mom. First of all, I had not talked to him in months — in months — so I had to get f**king parental consent to get testosterone blockers and [hormone replacement therapy].”

When asked whether speaking about him takes up space in her day-to-day life, she said:

“No, it doesn’t. It really doesn’t. I mean, I’ll see things about him in the news and think, That’s f**king cringe, I should probably post about this and denounce it, which I have done a few times.”

In the same interview, Wilson also referenced Elon Musk’s past comments about her in a conversation with Jordan Peterson, where he said she had been “killed by the woke mind virus.” She stated that speaking publicly afterward was “the most cathartic moment” of her life and said she does not feel intimidated by Elon’s wealth or public position.
