Journalist and podcaster Lauren Conlin discussed questionable social media posts by Rihanna’s shooting suspect that were made before the Sunday incident. On March 8, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s Beverly Hills home was hit by gunfire. Los Angeles police later arrested a 35-year-old woman named Ivanna Ortiz in connection with the shooting.
After the suspect was identified, several of her social media posts surfaced online in which she targeted the Grammy-winning singer. On March 9, Lauren Conlin appeared on Jesse Weber’s live show to discuss the Sunday attack. When Weber asked about the alleged shooter, Conlin responded:
“I would call her a Stan. Absolutely. Because she does seem to have this crazy obsession with Rihanna. And her crazy obsession here is constantly demeaning her and talking about her looks, her forehead. She’s had several posts where she accuses Rihanna of having AIDS. I mean, it’s really, really troubling.”
Ivanna Ortiz reportedly has a YouTube channel where she uploads spiritual content. In one of her recent videos, Ortiz commented on the singer’s forehead and nose.
“You saw Rihanna. You saw her picture. She has a very big forehead and an ugly, ugly nose. That’s God’s judgment on her. I keep telling her to stop harassing me to stop harassing me and she keeps doing it,” Ortiz said in her January 24 video.
Referring to the YouTube video, Lauren Conlin called Ivanna Ortiz’s “pauses” and her way of looking at the camera “alarming.” Conlin also mentioned that the singer’s alleged shooter had previous run-ins with the law. The crime journalist also questioned Ortiz’s mental health. The podcaster also raised concerns about Ortiz having an AR-15 rifle.
In addition to the aforementioned YouTube video, Ortiz made a bizarre post about the pop star last month. According to TMZ, in her February 23 post, the alleged shooter wrote:
“@badgalriri Are you there? Cause I was waiting for your AIDS 5-head self to say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I’m not at.”
According to the New York Post, the alleged shooter called the Umbrella hitmaker “jealous” of her in another of her social media videos. She also accused the singer of “stealing” from her. Ivanna Ortiz’s social media activity is reportedly under investigation.
Lauren Conlin claims Rihanna left her mansion following the attack
When the attack took place on Sunday afternoon, Rihanna was inside her mansion along with her three children. During her March 9 interview, Jesse Weber inquired about the singer’s reaction to the attack. Lauren Conlin claimed that the singer left her Beverly Hills home after the incident.
“I’d say she’s reacted by getting the hell out of there. There were images earlier of suitcases on her driveway, and she was packing them into a car, and then it was reported recently that she got on a plane out of Van Nuys airport. And I don’t blame her.”
Conlin further said that the March 8 attack was not the first frightening situation for the singer. The podcaster mentioned that in 2018, a stalker had broken into her home. She noted that although Rihanna was not at home at the time, she sold that house.
Ivanna Ortiz reportedly parked outside Rihanna’s home on Sunday and fired multiple shots. The police later arrested her at Sherman Oaks Galleria, eight miles from the singer’s home. Ortiz has been charged with attempted murder, with bail set at $10,225,000.
