The short version

Toronto's municipal election results became official October 29 when the City Clerk certified the October 26 vote.

The certified result

Toronto's City Clerk certified the results of the October 26, 2026 municipal election on October 29. Olivia Chow was re-elected mayor with 532,201 votes, ahead of Brad Bradford's 404,013, according to the city's declaration of results. That difference is 128,188 votes. The official result supersedes earlier election-night tallies labelled unofficial.

How many ballots were cast

The city says 989,990 ballots were cast in its municipal election. That overall ballot count should not be mistaken for the sum of only the leading mayoral candidates; voters also selected councillors and school board trustees where applicable. Toronto has published poll-by-poll results, including advance, mail and election-day voting locations.

City council and next steps

The certification also covers councillors in Toronto's 25 city wards. Toronto says the 2026–2030 council term begins Sunday, November 15. Members will make their declarations of office before the first council meeting on November 18 and 19. Certification confirms who was elected, but does not itself approve any policies proposed during the campaign.

What remains to be reported

Toronto says final voter statistics, including the confirmed number of eligible voters after voter-list revisions, will be released within 30 days of the election. Those later figures will help distinguish ballot totals from final turnout percentages. Detailed ward and polling-place results can be checked through the city election portal.
