The story then comes back to the present, where one day Jae-won comes to visit Do-gi at the Rainbow Taxi base. Do-gi is thrilled to see him and takes him out for a meal and a conversation. During their outing, Jae-hyun shares Sun-a has recently died under mysterious circumstances.

She has been serving as a master sergeant and has been sent on a mission, after which she dies. But after her death she has been demoted to a private rank, accused of being a traitor for attempting to collude with North Korea by supplying weapons.

The accusation confuses both Jae-hyun and Do-gi. Determined to uncover the truth, Do-gi leaves his Rainbow Taxi cab and his phone behind and re-enlists in the military to investigate.

With the help of a senior officer, Do-gi gains access to the military base where Sun-a has last been stationed, under the pretense of surveilling Black Eagles seen along the border. The base captain however, aware of Do-gi’s connection to Sun-a, becomes suspicious and places men to monitor him.

Bringing Park Jae-hyun along, Do-gi sets out to investigate the circumstances surrounding Sun-a’s death. They discover that Sun-a on her lat mission has abandoned her patrol mid-mission and continued alone toward the North Korean border.

Investigating further near the area, Do-gi and Jae-won find out a body cam that she has hidden in a near by bird’s nest. The body cam footage reveals the full story that the night before her mission, Sun-a grows suspicious of the operation and follows the base captain and a lieutenant, after seeing them sneaking out.

She discovered the captain planting explosives in the vests of her troops and overheard him plotting to kill the entire unit, framing it as a North Korean attack. Acting to protect her team, thr next day, Sun-a sent them back and attempted to deliver the evidence to headquarters but was intercepted by the captain. Following instructions taught by Do-gi during training, she hid the proof and sacrificed herself with the explosions to stop the plot.

Meanwhile, Rainbow Taxi grows worried as Do-gi has been missing for two weeks. Discovering his abandoned phone and taxi, the team fears the worst. They eventually receive a pager notification from Do-gi and trace it to a military base.

Realizing he may be in danger, the team infiltrates the base as soldiers. However, their presence raises suspicion, and they are quickly captured until Do-gi arrives with Park Jae-won and compels the captain to communicate with the general who has helped him re-enlist.

With the general’s intervention, the captain reluctantly cooperates, though he alerts someone about Do-gi and the team. Go-eun meanwhile, hacks the military servers, extracting vital information.

The team plan to submit the bodycam to the Human Rights Department. On the way there, Go-eun carrying the camera is ambushed by two masked men, and despite Do-gi’s intervention, the camera is seized by a former colonel.

Do-gi recognizes the ex-colonel as the same officer who has previously ordered a fatal mission that would have trapped his troop at the border and killed them. But Do-gi has tackled the situation by sending his troup on leaves.

The team uncovers that this discharged colonel, accused of sexual harassment, is now plotting to detonate a military explosion near the border to frame North Korea and provoke war, believing it will “save” South Korea. He has gotten some military generals in his plan and is also pressuring the captain of Do-gi’s base to issue arrest orders against the Rainbow Taxi team. Learning this the team then moves ahead with their plan.

On the night of the planned explosion, half the troops are sent near the border, and eight soldiers are positioned close to Base B-24, near the border, wearing explosive-laced vests under the guise of a drill. The colonel attempts to trigger tanks to carry out the massacre, but the operators refuse when they seen groups of civilians arriving at the place.

In frustration, the colonel tries to fire the tanks himself but due to the Rainbow Taxi team’s intervention, the tanks release fireworks instead. The team has arrived at B-24 with reporters, civilians, students, and the K-pop group Element from the earlier case.

This distracts and protects the soldiers, effectively preventing the colonel’s plan. The Rainbow Taxi team and Park Jae-won then coordinate with the military police to arrest the corrupt generals, but the ex-colonel flees.

The team follows him quickly leading to his car colliding with the van carrying Go-eun, Chief Choi, and Jin-eon, flipping it. Do-gi and Seong-chol quickly rushes by the trio’s side, to ensure they are safe.

In the mean time, the ex-colonel, injured and desperate, starts firing his gun at the group, hitting Go-eun. Do-gi confronts him, arguing that his actions would have killed countless innocent people, but the man dismisses it as a necessary sacrifice and continues firing.

As Do-gi closes the distance to disarm him, he is shot once in the chest and again in the stomach. Still, he refuses to back down and declaring that he will never surrender to someone like him, Do-gi lunges forward, restrains the ex-colonel and triggers the gun at him.

Locked together, the two plunge off the cliff into the river below. The Rainbow Taxi team screaming runs towards the edge and find the water below becoming bloodied.

The episode then shifts to a reflective flashback, showing the team sharing a meal. Go-eun asks if they would have met without the taxi team, to which the rest of the team express skepticism but Seong-chol responds that fate would have brought them together somehow.

A few days later, a wealthy woman seeks to hire an assassin to eliminate her sister over an inheritance dispute. While searching for assassins she and her secretary encounters Do-gi. Nearby, Chief Choi and Jin-eon, in disguises eavesdrop, while Go-eun remotely in her van gathers information.

Back at the Rainbow Taxi base, Seong-chol is seen posting photos of the two women on a board, hinting that the team is setting up for the next case. With this, the final episodes of Taxi Driver 3 conclude, wrapping up the season.
