How to get Linen Scrap in Hytale

Published

on

Linen Scrap in Hytale might look like a tiny early-game material, but it’s one of those items that quietly controls how fast a player can progress. You need a large amount of it to improve your Workbench to Tier 2, which lets you unlock more recipes for making items. It is also necessary for creating repair kits, which means it stays a useful resource even after you have played for many hours.

On that note, here is how you can get Linen Scrap in Hytale.

Where to get Linen Scrap in Hytale

Linen scraps fall from humanoid enemies. This means the player must beat them and then gather the material from the ground after the fight.

The most frequent human-like enemies at the start of the game are:

  • The undead (which includes skeletons)
  • Goblins
  • Trorks

These can be found in Zone 1, which is called the Emerald Wilds. This is also the starting area in most game worlds. That makes it the perfect region for collecting linen scraps at the beginning of the game.

It does not matter which human-like enemy is beaten; the drop is straightforward: only one linen scrap falls from an enemy when it does happen. However, the complication is that enemies do not always drop linen scraps, so it is not a certain way to collect them unless the player is fighting a sufficient number of targets on a consistent basis.

Best enemies to farm for Linen Scrap in Hytale

The easiest farming method is clearing monster camps, since enemies there respawn after a while and camps usually have loot chests too. You can spot camps by their layout:

  • Skeleton ruins: surrounded by walls
  • Trork camps: built on dirt, found on hills/flat ground/mountains
  • Goblin camps: inside mountains (usually caves)

Always open every chest in the camp, since linen scraps can show up there too. Trorks and goblins tend to drop linen scraps more often, while skeletons commonly drop Bone Fragments instead. Skeletons are still useful to farm, especially during the day with a bow and arrow, since undead are more active at night.

The best farming strategy: rotate camps

Because enemies need time to come back, the most effective way to collect Linen Scrap in Hytale is not to stay at one camp and wait. The best strategy is to move in a cycle between several camps where human-like enemies appear regularly.

Even though camp designs are different from one game world to another, the principle remains the same: find a number of enemy camps, clear them of enemies, gather all the loot, then proceed to the next one. By the time the cycle is finished, the first camp will usually be almost ready to have enemies again.

This method of moving between locations is especially useful because linen scraps are not guaranteed drops, meaning that the total number of enemies defeated is more important than chance.
