AEW star Kota Ibushi is currently sidelined due to a legitimate injury. He broke his femur during his match against Josh Alexander on Collision in October 2025. He is reportedly going to be out of action for almost two years.
The Golden Star made his All Elite Wrestling debut in 2023. Even though he hasn’t won a title in the Jacksonville-based promotion yet, Tony Khan has immense faith in him. Hopefully, the AEW president and CEO will give him a singles title run when he makes a complete recovery and returns to the squared circle.
Ibushi recently released a touching statement on Instagram. He apologised to Kenny Omega because he will not be able to be in his corner for his match against Josh Alexander on Dynamite next week. Interestingly, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion even sent a defiant message to Tony Khan.
The Golden Star told Khan that he is going to make a comeback.

“And to Tony Khan, I’ll be making a comeback once again!,” wrote the AEW star.
Tony Khan was heartbroken by Kota Ibushi’s injury
Tony Khan candidly spoke about Ibushi’s injury on the WrestleDream media call. He said that he was very sad to see the Golden Star get sidelined. He also revealed that the 43-year-old was scheduled to wrestle at WrestleDream.
“That was devastating for many reasons. I’m very, very sad to see Kota Ibushi not being able to wrestle and compete. He was planned to wrestle on WrestleDream, and the injury was devastating, and I have had to make changes in recent days accordingly. But Kota Ibushi is absolutely somebody we will be excited to have back in AEW if and when he’s ready, and I’m very sad about his injury,” he said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc]
Only time will tell what the future holds for Ibushi. Hopefully, he will recover and return sooner than expected.
