Will Mark Zuckerberg move to Florida?
Mark Zuckerberg has his eyes on Indian Creek Island.
Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are toying with the idea of purchasing a property on the ultra-exclusive Florida landmass, according to an updated report by the Wall Street Journal. The property in question is reportedly an under-construction spec mansion priced at $200 million.
News of the couple’s noncommittal browsing comes more than a week after a report tied Zuckerberg and Chan to an off-market property nearby.
The story fueled speculation about the pair relocating from California due to its looming billionaire tax, following the lead other tech heads from Google and WhatsApp.
Tuesday’s news of Palantir’s relocation from Denver to Miami may just kick the South Florida real estate rumor mill into overdrive.
The site of the most recent confusion, Indian Creek Island, hosts roughly 40 coveted lots that are nearly as rare as they are expensive. Listings in recent years have soared into the nine figures.
When the properties do get snapped up, the buyer is either a faceless, über-private entity or one of the most well-known names in the country — Jeff Bezos, Tom Brady and Ivanka Trump, to name a few.
Besides the unbeatable networking opportunities, the man-made island offers 1 percenters like Zuckerberg a lordly level of privacy. The community’s single, gated bridge and dedicated police force with round-the-clock marine patrols has earned it the nickname “Billionaire Bunker.”
News of the Meta founder’s interest in the island first made headlines in early February, when an inaccurate report said that Zuckerberg was in contract to buy Jersey Mike’s Subs founder Peter Cancro’s off-market estate. An update to the story stated that Cancro’s home is not for sale.
Instead, new reporting linked the couple’s interest to 7 Indian Creek Island Road, a 2-acre property located a few doors down from Jeff Bezos’ own two-parcel spread.
No. 7 listed for $200 million in November, repped by Jill and Danny Hertzberg of Coldwell Banker Realty. If successful, the sale would blow the current Miami-Dade sales record of $120 million out of the water.
The lot last traded in 2020 for $30 million. The buyer was Dr. Aaron Rollins, the high-profile cosmetic surgeon who pioneered the AirSculpt body contouring procedure.
Rollins and his wife, real estate agent Marine Rollins, had big plans for the waterfront plot. The listing advertises a nearly finished limestone mansion set to span 27,889 square feet, including nine bedrooms, a home theater, a hair salon and a jazz lounge. A partially built yacht dock sits along 200 feet of Biscayne Bay frontage.
“All the hard work’s been done,” Jill previously told The Post.
The agents could not comment on the status of the listing or buyer interest.
The blank-slate build opportunity would be especially attractive to Zuckerberg, who is known for his peculiar taste in landscaping, a backyard octagon ring and a giant outdoor statue of his wife.
Whether or not Zuckerberg is serious about joining his colleagues in the Sunshine State, the $200 million property won’t offer refuge from California’s proposed 5% wealth tax, which would retroactively tax assets held as of Jan. 1, 2026. No.7 is not expected to be completed until mid-2027 at the earliest, the Real Deal reported.
A full-on relocation to Florida would be a shocking turn of events for Zuckerberg and Chan, in any case. The pair have assembled $110 million worth of properties in their Palo Alto enclave, gobbling up 11 homes in total. They matched the momentum in Hawaii with the 1,000-acre expansion of their $300 million compound last year, angering locals.
