Three B.C. election contests have preliminary top-two margins of 13, 66 and 132 votes, respectively, ahead of the November 6–10 final count.
The tightest preliminary margins
Elections BC's initial count, marked complete on October 25, shows the NDP candidate ahead of the Conservative candidate by just 13 votes in Ladysmith-Oceanside: 13,380 to 13,367. Burnaby South-Metrotown has a 66-vote NDP lead, 5,811 to 5,745. In Kelowna Centre, the Conservative candidate leads by 132 votes, 10,791 to 10,659. These margins come from preliminary reported ballot totals and do not include every remaining eligible ballot.
What the province-wide picture shows
At the last timestamp displayed on the official Elections BC results site, the Conservatives led in 63 electoral districts, the NDP in 28 and the Greens in two. Elections BC reported preliminary voter turnout at 48.14%, with 1,799,550 votes considered. District leads are not certified outcomes. The full election outcome should not be treated as final until the agency completes its remaining counting and verification.
What happens next
The agency says mail-in and absentee ballots are scheduled to be counted during final count, November 6–10. Additional eligibility and duplicate-vote safeguards apply to those ballots. Close riding margins may change, and any recount requirements will depend on official procedures and final totals.
