B.C.’s 2026 provincial election chooses 93 MLAs across the province. Voting closed on October 24, and preliminary results are now available. Our October 25 results briefing reports the latest checked district leads and leadership developments. Most ballots are counted that night, while vote-by-mail and specified absentee ballots are held for later counting and additional checks.
Preliminary results are now available
Final Voting Day was Saturday, October 24. Voting closed at 8 p.m. Pacific, and Elections BC has published preliminary results. The live results portal is the place to follow those early totals. The province is electing 93 Members of the Legislative Assembly, one for each electoral district.
A number shown on election night is a preliminary count. It should be read with its time and riding attached: an early lead in one district does not decide the province-wide seat total, and an incomplete riding count can change as more ballots are added.
Which ballots are counted that night?
Elections BC says most ballots are counted on election night. That includes ballots cast at district electoral offices and advance voting places, ballots cast at assigned voting places on Final Voting Day, and in-district ballots from special voting opportunities.
Vote-by-mail ballots, assisted telephone voting ballots, and specified absentee ballots are not included in the election-night count. Elections BC says those ballots are counted about two weeks after election day, with additional integrity checks to confirm that eligible voters voted and that each voter voted once.
The final count comes later
Elections BC lists November 6–10, 2026 as the planned final-count period. That later count incorporates ballots held back from election night and completes the official process. The agency’s current results page is the source to follow for preliminary updates and declared results; media projections and early totals are not substitutes for that record.
This briefing explains the counting timeline and reports no candidate winners or party totals. Vancouver’s October 17 municipal election is a separate local vote, with its own official results.
