The short version

Israel's election authorities say a security inquiry into allegations does not alter the completed ballot count or target any population group.

Results remain unchanged

Israel's Central Elections Committee released the completed count for the October 27 election, leaving the bloc aligned with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on 53 seats, the opposing bloc on 48 and Arab-led parties on 19. A Knesset majority requires 61 seats. Likud is the largest individual party with 27 seats. The committee says standard checks and possible minor corrections remain before formal results go to President Isaac Herzog on November 4.

What prompted the inquiry

Following the result, Likud repeated allegations of election wrongdoing and possible foreign influence involving Arab-led parties. Those allegations have not been substantiated. Election committee chair Justice Noam Sohlberg reportedly asked Israel's Shin Bet security agency to examine information supplied to him, while saying he could not verify the allegations. An inquiry is not evidence that the election result was compromised.

What officials say about the count

The election committee's acting director general, Dean Livne, said the inquiry would not affect the results submitted to the president and was not directed at any population sector. In separate reporting, the committee clarified that its verification process involves rechecking polling stations, transcription corrections and public complaints. These administrative checks are distinct from speculation about coalition negotiations.

Political reaction and the next stage

Netanyahu's political opponents rejected the claims, while Qatar denied accusations circulated by some politicians concerning its alleged involvement. The final figures leave no single governing bloc with a parliamentary majority; party consultations and government-formation negotiations remain separate from counting. Israel's new Knesset is scheduled to be sworn in November 10. This report attributes all disputed claims and does not treat them as established facts.
