Official certification on October 29 confirms elected councils for Hamilton and Mississauga, with published participation figures for both municipalities.
Hamilton confirms its elected mayor and council
Hamilton's City Clerk certified the October 26 municipal election results on October 29. Keanin Loomis was confirmed as mayor, alongside councillors in the city's 15 wards and elected school trustees. The municipality recorded 147,299 ballots, representing 31.61% of eligible voters, down from 35.38% in 2022. These are certified municipal figures, not election-night projections.
Small counting correction, no change to winners
Hamilton says its certification identified 103 ballots from five community polls that were missing from the unofficial election-night results. Those ballots were added to the final count but did not change the outcome of any race. More than 110,000 people cast ballots on election day at 106 voting locations; the overall 147,299 figure includes advance voting as well.
Mississauga's results are also official
Mississauga's City Clerk certified its municipal election results on October 29. The city recorded 191,166 voters and a 33.9% turnout rate. Voters elected a mayor, 11 ward and regional councillors, and school board trustees for the 2026–2030 term. The official declaration supersedes the earlier unofficial tallies.
When the next councils start
Mississauga's inaugural council meeting is scheduled for November 16 at 7 p.m. at the Living Arts Centre, where members will take their oaths. Hamilton says certified lists of successful candidates and ward-level results are available on its municipal elections website. Turnout rates are city-specific; they should not be combined into an Ontario-wide participation statistic.
